Tentative title: Biodegradation prediction and utility
Dr. Lawrence Wackett is Distinguished McKnight University Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics and the BioTechnology Institute at the University of Minnesota. Wackett’s University research studies biodegradation and biocatalysis and he spun-out the bioremediation company Minnepura Technologies to translate the science into applications. He has published ~250 research articles and is co-inventor on 15 issued or pending patents. Wackett obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Texas at Austin with David Gibson and was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow with Christopher Walsh in the Chemistry Department at MIT. Dr. Wackett started as an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota and became the Distinguished McKnight Professor of Biochemistry in 2001. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, member of the American Academy of Microbiology, and an American Society for Microbiology Foundation Lecturer. Wackett co-authored the textbook Biocatalysis and Biodegradation, sold by ASM Press. The book has been translated into Chinese and is also available from Chemical Industry Press in Beijing.
