Title: New functional genes involved in degradation of micropollutants
Jeppe Lund Nielsen is a professor and research group leader in Environmental Microbiology at Aalborg University in Denmark. Jeppe holds a M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry from University of Copenhagen, and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Aalborg University in 2000. Key competences covers systems microbiology, single cell microbiology, eukaryotic microbiomes, imaging and technical microbiology. The group are at present involved in several ongoing research projects and has developed multiple methodologies to study microbial population dynamics and link specific activities to individual subpopulations at single cell level without prior cultivation. Special focus has been on identifying genes involved in degradation of micropollutants and microplastics. He has authored 135 publications in peer refereed scientific journals and 12 book chapters.
